I base this upon the tongue in cheek scene at the start of the movie where he has trouble starting the car due to his seat belt not being fastened. The seatbelt interlock was an experiment Ford tried during the 1974 model year that proved wildly unpopular. I believe its even mentioned in the Wikipedia article on the LTD. I think there was either a recall or a letter sent to owners on how to disable the buzzer (which is clearly shown in the film). Growing up my parents drove a 1974 LTD Landau Coupe same copper color as the car in the movie. I seem to recall some type of sticker containing a warning that was stuck on the driver's sun visor once the seatbelt minder was disabled. So can anybody confirm this is indeed a 1973 Ford Custom 500?
