4 lights in Europe would mean 411E, but I expect all 411 had them in US. So how do you tell a US 411 from a US 411E? -- Last edit: 2011-01-30 14:43:27 |

Is the colour identifyable? It looks a bit like "redmetallic", but this was from the 1974 MY, when the 411 wasn't produced any more. So I guess, an unoriginal repaint. |

Sorry, but these lamps only mean "1970 to 1972 and not 1969 MY" |

UK was 411E and LE from Sept 69 to Sept 72 with 4 lights and injection. Before that 2 rounded oblong lights, carbs and called 411 and 411L. |

Wiki says, that in 1969 the 68 hp-carburator was substituted by the 80 hp-ignition-system, but that the carburator-version was still availabe on special request, resp. for the automatic-version http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VW_Typ_4 Oh, on the photos there is annother 1971-411 in the identical colour, so it's surely an original tone (but which one? With colours outside "my" range I'm not saddle fast) |

The US only got one model, the 411 for 1971-1972, and the 412 for 1973-1974. |
