Fuzzy . As far as I can see ,a 1951 Packard 250 Mayfair Sports Hardtop ( Twenty Fourth Series model 2431) |

Agree fuzzy but looks more like a '53 to me per grille shape, drop-winged cormorant ornament and lack of hood lettering. |

Sorry about the fuzzy pic. If this were a Ford or a Chevy I wouldn't have saved it, but it's a 1950s Packard and I almost never find one of these! |

The more I look at this, the more it appears to me to be a Clipper 2-door sedan. It just does not seem to have the Mayfair hardtop roof line. Changing to 1953 Packard Clipper. Oddly, the car in the photo appears to have no side trim at all which was not the feature of any Packard series but I guess it's just the blurriness. Incidentally, there appears to be another, older (pre-'48) Packard parked behind the '53. |

Loved the 1953 Packard -- one of my all-time favorite cars!![]() Here's the shot again, as close and clear as I can get it. This Packard has a center pillar which rules out the Mayfair. The Patrician 4door and Custom Formal Sedan had a big chrome piece fronting the rear fender, which appears absent here. Of course, the Caribbean had clean lines w/o side chrome except high up below the window. But also came only in a convertible and this car lacks the Caribbean's hood scoop. Agree w/you, Commander. Looks like a Clipper to me. Might also be a Cavalier sedan. ![]() And behind the old Packard, it looks like another '51-'54, doesn't it? 3 in a row? -- Last edit: 2014-03-12 02:59:10 |
