Side door is sliding type.
1967 model.(Only japan??)

Special order is possible.
In that case, I do not understand the age type.

@5503: 1963+ ;)

As Wikipedia says http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VW_T1 in 1963 it got the bigger back door and since that year the sliding door was available for extra charge.

That's just a nickname, like 'Beetle'. ;) Talking of Beetles, that's one welded atop the roof!

Sorry, but there ws indeed a "Bus", officially named by VW. The T1 and T2 were called so internal, but the T3 officially (in the first years after 1979). The "Bus" was the version with back seats and side windows. O.k. there was also the more basic "Transporter"-version (officially badged at T3 and T4) available with back seats and side windows. They were identifyable by the more simple interior (and, sure, at the T3 by the badge).

The nickname, you are referring is "Bulli" ;) This came up in Germany in the 50ies for the VW T1 and was continued for the T2 and T3 (even by some Germans for the T4 or Vans in that size of other brands). It was forbidden to Volkswagen to use the name "Bulli", because annother company had the Copyright. AFAIK Kässbohrer: /vehicles.php?make=k%E4ssbohrer&model=

Same with the 1st gen Ford Mustang. At the West German market it ws named just "T5", because the name "Mustang" was already copyrighted: /vehicles.php?make=krupp&model=mustang

And same with the faboulus motorbike /vehicle_105887-Munch-4-TTS-1200-1971.html Everyone calls it "Mammut", but officially it has to be sold as "TTS".
