We can just see from the first thumbnail that it has the extra badge denoting it is an automatic but is it a 230, 250 or 280? Not many seem to have the bumper overiders - or is that just US cars? |

No headrests or side reflectors, so earlier car. |

And also the old wheels and hubcaps. |

It's rare to see anything other than round headlights for any vehicles in the US before 1975. I remember some friends of the family who had one from 1973. -- Last edit: 2010-12-16 18:40:10 |

Was the 230 SL availible in the us? If yes I'd say its a 230 |

Most likely to be 230 - 250 possible but very short production. 280 would have headrests and side markers in most if not all US cases?? |

Absolutely not a 280, more probably a 250. Even a short production makes it possible for a classy 2 seater so desirable in the US market. |

Should it be labeled as 250SL? To me a 250 is a sedan. |

If the license plate is original to the car (and I'm sure it's a real one; you can spot the fakes a mile away), that letter combination NPP would have been issued in 1965 - so, '65 230 SL? |

Yes 62imperial, www.bar.ca.gov says the plates are real. No smog test results to help us with the model year. |

Just found this site. My family used to own the car from the movie. It's a European '67 230SL. Not for US markets. Thus the headlights. Learned to drive a manual in that & first car I ever drove over 100 MPH in. Mom bought it when she lived in Southern California. -- Last edit: 2023-03-23 18:52:16 |
