I know they were VW-powered, but I can't remember the manufacturer for love nor money. They have sort of a cult following among the 'old hippies' in the US. -- Last edit: 2006-05-25 11:00:00 |

This thing was VW powered??? Good lord it couldnt have made it over speed bumps, living proof...RV manufacturers have a sense of humor too. Driving this thing must have been like an act of revenge |

After having smoked three joints the speed you can attain with them is more than approriate I'd say. |

Avec des roues en métal et un caténaire, on dirait un autorail... maintenat, j'imagine d'ici les performances, avec un bon vieux flat VW énervé... Décoiffant, non? |

VW aircooled powered ? I understand, now, why the airco group is independant and on the roof... Average 40 mph top speed, 30 with hi-beam lights, no ? |

1959/69 Prescolite Corvair Corsa Motorhome link here .Originally Corvair powered the upgraded to a 307 c.i. transverse mounted V8 w/ a powerglide transmission called the Corvette Corsa. Eventually the unit was upfitted with an Oldsmobile Toranado Drivetrain -- Last edit: 2006-05-26 04:01:29 |

A lot of mis-information listed here. This ia a Corvair powered "Ultravan" It is not a Corvair Corsa! Someone mistakenly used the name of the website which also happens to be the name of the Sporty version of the Corvair in 1965-66. I repeat, this is a ULTRAVAN. Also this is Corvair powered, not VW powered. |

Thanks for the info and welcome to IMCDb. With the help of your comment I found a few pages: http://www.pilkguns.com/fotouv.htm http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/uvmcc/ Most sources name the vehicle 'Corvair Ultra Van' produced by the Ultra Van Corporation of Hutchinson, Kansas, USA. Do you know if 'Corvair' was used as a brand name? Or was 'Ultra Van' the brand name and it had no model name? |
