Nice car. 2 litres, rather plush interior ... called by some the Baby Bentley.

"called by some the Baby Bentley."

Not because of the dreary performance from the Standard Vanguard engine and 3 speed gearbox. 68 bhp and 70 mph downhill.

There was also a Triumph 1800, built from 1946 to 1948, which shared an engine and transmission with the 1 1/2 litre (!) Jaguar and it is visually identical, so you cannot be certain that this is a Renown, which was only adopted as the name when the Vanguard engine/3 speed transmission was adopted in 1949.

Build quantities as follows: -

1800 Saloon - 4,000
2000 Saloon - 2,000 (Vanguard engine, 4-speed transmission)
Renown Mk I - 6,501 (Vanguard engine, 3-speed transmission)
Renown Mk II - 2,800
Renown Limousine - 190 (one hundred and ninety)

So the chances of it being a limousine are almost microscopic.

The point is that you cannot tell from the above picture whether the car is an 1800, a 2000, or a Renown. There is a minor difference in the shapeof the headlights, but I do not think that they show up well enough to say which car this is.

D'accord
