Jaguar Mk.IV is my guess. Only minor points which don't match pictures on the web. Headlights are right except they don't have the fixing/logo on the top. Also boot handle looks different (horizontal 'T' type instead of vertical lever). Could be model/year differences or because of restoration. -- Last edit: 2006-05-22 14:51:38 |

Pre-war the company name was SS Cars Limited. After the war the company changed its name to Jaguar Cars Limited. The pre-war SS Jaguar 1½, 2½ and 3½ Litre models continued in production after the war but there were minor differences such as a narrower chrome strip along the side and the cars were simply titled Jaguar 1½, 2½ or 3½ Litre saloon. The Jaguar Mk V appeared in 1948/49 and so the previous post-war cars were retrospectively called Mk IV. So you have SS Jaguars before the war and Jaguar Mk IVs and Jaguar Mk Vs after the war. This car strictly speaking is not a Mk IV. It is an SS Jaguar 2½ Litre. Peter |
