1974 my 911 2.4 (black vents) in E or S level (spoiler). No side indicators, so not made for Italy?? |

The side indicator on Porsches was incorporated in the wrap-around front directional light |

This one is a 911S |

Happy to agree with you, but why not a 911E? |

Well, the 911E had original chrome vents and the front bumper of the "E" had not the integrated spoiler, and not this backbumper like on the lower pic, this were details of the "S", the "Fuchs" Wheels were only a option on the "E", but OK, this one could be modified to an "S-look" -- Last edit: 2010-09-20 15:18:51 |

In UK sequence was: Oct 71 - 2.4 models introduced, spoiler on 911S only. Oct 72 - slight updates, including black horn grilles and surrounds to side and rear lights. 911S spoiler now also fitted to 911E Lux. |

OK, maybe in UK there were some different options to the german cars, but this one is a LHD, so it is not a UK Model, but right, the front spoilerbumper was an option for the "E" too, but here only as option. So this one seems is a car for Italy, all it has are original "S" parts, I don't think that it is a "E" with all options of "S"... but possible. Are you sure with the year and the 2.4L Engine, I can not see the oil intake... |

Year and 2.4 engine - reasonably sure - the car looks right for 2.4 period. (The reason I have to quote UK specifications is because I've only got specific UK data, and I know others specs may differ.) As for oil intake - October 1972 moved to engine compartment. |

Yes, you are right, I checked it only the in 72 built (about 880 cars) 911E 2.4 and only the "E" had the oil intake outside. But in Germany only the S had that trim as shown on the picture. All in all we can discust for days: its seems to be a "S" but it even could be a modified "E", it is definetly a 911 2.4, and its a beautiful car -- Last edit: 2010-09-21 11:22:05 |

Agreed. I had posters on my bedroom wall when I was a lad. |
