It's like this one: http://www.pittsburghmetrofire.com/engines/PFD20engPshoop.jpg 1993 American LaFrance. I think this model may have been some sort of prototype because i've never seen one like it before. It looks to have come in between the Century, and the Eagle model, which went into production after Freightliner acquired them in 1994. This has the older logo, so this may well have been the last A.L.F. built before the purchase. I can only find that maybe 2 or 3 of these were built and they all belong the Pittsburg FD like this one. -- Last edit: 2010-08-18 01:14:26 |

Ok, so I found out it was called the American LaFrance Patriot, and it was indeed a prototype that never went into production. Fire truck companies (not just American LaFrance) usually show demonstrator prototype models at trade shows and then auction them off to fire departments after they're done using them. |

No, it wasn't a prototype at all. ) There were several produced, including four for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, of which this one belongs to. -- Last edit: 2014-01-18 17:18:43 |
