I'm going to take a wild guess, and suggest the possibility of a White 706M.

According to the White article in the November-December 1992 issue of Motor Coach Age, the 706-M was only available as a single door coach, and this one has an odd left-side rear door. It may be a front-engine 805-M, which was available with custom bodywork.

Boston had ACF-Brill H-9-S buses with left-side doors; could be one of those, too.

The ACF-Brill H-9-S had separated front fenders that this doesn't have. I almost considered the White 805-M, but that grille bulges out a little too much for me. The grille of a lot of H-9-S's bulge too, but moreso than this.

I've seen this bus before in other movies, TV shows, and photographs, but I can't think of where.

Can you imagine 'me' not knowing what this is? (you name it, and I'll shoot it!).

Anyway, all I have to add to this conversation is that what might appear to be a passenger door (left rear) was an emergency door.

I'd say we have a match. This one was clearly modified with a chop top, though.

I would have said Chevrolet R52, but I changed my mind, it's a Duraliner of '38: http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/f/fitzjohn/oo1938_fitzjohn_duraliner_2.jpg

I found this image online somewhere a few years ago.

On January 7, 2017 I decided to try to ID this bus. My search led me to this forum post. My image was taken before the bus was used in "25th Hour". You can see the top has been chopped but the curved rear section has not been chopped yet. In the movie it has been chopped but not finished. After searching the suggestions listed here I have positively IDed the bus as a 1938 White 706M.

I think this is a White 706M rather than a Duraliner
