1954-55 cab and grille of the 1947-55 Chevrolet Advance-Design trucks line. A clear view of the hood side emblem would help to be more precise. Most of the Chevy tow trucks of that era seem indeed to have been 1-ton 3800 models, but some were ¾-ton 3600 ones too, and at least one is already listed in the IMCDb. I'm not sure that what can be seen in these pictures really help to see if it is a 125¼"/3.18 m wheelbase (3600 model) or a 137"/3.48 m one (3800 truck). Even if visible, dual rear wheels couldn't be a clue, as they were an option for both 3600 and 3800 models in 1954... When scheduled to become tow trucks, these vehicles were sold as "Chassis+cab", which means a 3x03 in Chevrolet codes. If sure of a 3800 model: ⇒ 1954 Chevrolet Advance-Design 3800 [3803] Else: ⇒ 1954 Chevrolet Advance-Design? |
