Deluxe coupe. Too far away to tell if Champion or Commander. (All President coupes had State trim.) |

The lack of chrome trim on the side makes me want to say Studebaker Champion (Not sure if the proper nomenclature for this website would be "Studebaker Champion Deluxe Coupe" or "Studebaker Champion Deluxe Coupe"). -- Last edit: 2011-12-16 14:24:17 (Neon) |

The lack of side moulding has nothing to do with whether or not the car is a Champion or Commander. That only had to do with the trim line. Regal/State models had the side spear. Deluxe models did not. (Champion Custom models also lacked chromed headlamp rims). The Commander had a nameplate on the leading edge of the rear fenders (as did the President) while the Champion had no nameplate. Subject car is too far away to tell for sure but appears to show no nameplate. Believe we should list as Champion pending a closer shot. -- Last edit: 2012-02-20 15:43:21 |
