It looks like it's the first in site. |

I have been waiting to see a Sunburst on the site for some time now! Great find for those that don't know the Pontiac Sunburst was a re-badged Isuzu I-Mark sold only in Canada (the same as the Chevy Spectrum here in the US) -- Last edit: 2010-07-03 12:40:56 |

Was the Spectrum sold in Canada? |

What makes this one a Sunburst as opossed to a Spectrum? |

Good question. AFAIK the Sunburst had more profiled taillight seams, which this one doesn't seem to have at all. |

Which is why I believe this one is rather a Spectrum, but the question still remains; was the Spectrum sold in Canada? |

You have the resources of the entire internet at your disposal. Don't just stand there waving and get crackin'. The sources I can find seem to imply the Spectrum was sold in Canada, but nothing definitive yet. |

The Ward's Automotive Yearbook pages I've checked lumped the Sunburst and Spectrum together for Canadian sales. I'm hoping that Baube can find it in his guides. |

Even if my books and Wikipedia are both saying that the Spectrum/Sunburst duo were in sale in Canada, my books are saying that the sales were marginal here and i believe it because i don't remember seeing any of them ( but yes, i saw Isuzu I-Mark ). my books sometimes gives sales numbers when available from the manufacturer but looks like GM forgot to return the call on those ones..... |

I'm not sure what this one is; the taillights appear to be from a Spectrum, yet I can't find any Spectrum with that white symbol on the back (Sunburst had a similar one, but it was higher). Sunburst would also have a "PONTIAC" script on this side of the trunklid, which the car in question lacks... |

The only years I copied were for 1986 and 1987. Ward's lists 2,596 combined sold in 1986 and 1,994 combined sold in 1987. So not many at all. |

4600 for 2 years, just like you said, not many . by comparison ( i know, not same era, not same car but anyway, just for fun ) 7,798 Kia Rio/Rio5 were sold in Québec alone last year.. |

Apparently post-facelift Sunbursts and Spectrums had the same taillights; 1987 Pontiac Sunburst LE https://www.flickr.com/photos/48364370@N08/16159239710 1987 Chevrolet Spectrum CL http://www.cardomain.com/ride/485177/1987-chevrolet-spectrum/ , but the one in question is pre-facelift/from 1986, yet has Spectrum taillights, so I'm guessing it is a Spectrum, although the white script on the back is throwing me... Maybe it's a dealer sticker? |

Assuming this is a Spectrum, it's a 1986, as the show was filmed in Vancouver, whereas in 1985 the Spectrum was only available in east-USA. |
