Could this be a Santana Series IIIa, 109"? I'm thinking of the one-piece screen, and Santana did export to Morocco, one of the locations. |

It has the extended snout, putting it even with the finders, indicating a Stage 1 V8. The Stage 1 was the only Series III to have full-time four-wheel drive with a third differential (known as the center differential) in addition to the two axle differentials. This center diff allowed the four-wheel drive system to operate on pavement, without suffering torque windup or drivetrain binding. Without a center differential, the full-time 4x4 system would experience catastrophic drivetrain failure from being driven on pavement. Unlike the front and rear axel differentials, the center differential could be locked to provide a 50/50 front-to-rear torque split and to prevent the phenomenon known as torque reduction, which happens when one or more wheel(s) losses traction. -- Last edit: 2011-04-30 03:10:58 |

No comments on the Stage 1? |

This really confuses me. Stage One V8 seems the best bet but those would usually have the split screen and the lights seem a bit wrong. But it is a Land Rover and is probably in an African country with poorer access to parts so it is conceivable the wrong screen was fitted. |

I'll go along with the Stage I, given Sandie's suggestion about the screen. It certainly isn't later; no wheel-arch extensions, and the arches are the old shape. |
