Aren't Iveco trucks made by Ford?

I don't think so, but I am not sure. I always thought Iveco was an Italian brand...

Iveco is an italian brand. I thought it was property of Fiat, but according to Wikipedia it is an alliance between Fiat, Unic and Magirus.

If I am correct, Iveco was rather exotic in the US that time. Could be a Zeta/Turbo Zeta.

All I can tell for sure is that it has Iveco Diesel Mudflaps on it. :)

Examples for Iveco (Turbo)Zeta:
http://www.olafs-fotoseite.de/03100523.html (TurboZeta 79-12)
http://www.olafs-fotoseite.de/99020722.html (Older Zeta)

http://lkw-infos.net/iveco-zeta.htm

Maybe this was a case of product placement, and so a truck uncommon in the US got its chance for an appearance.

In this US movie is one too:

So the model is most likely a Zeta?

Iveco and Ford had an alliance at one point. The Ford Cargo became the Iveco-Ford Cargo, and was then replaced by the Iveco EuroCargo.

Yes. That's my opinion.

Even if it is a little hard to verify from this perspective. It's nearly impossible to see one of the most characteristic details, the bend in the roof.
The 1st part of the series was named 'Zeta', later parts of the series were named 'TurboZeta'. OM also used the cab - that's where the design is from, I think - but I have never seen any OM here with this cab. Also, the movie is not old enough :D for having OM...

It was written Z (Z-Range) at the brocuhres. This one has bumper introduced in Europe in 1984, but seems not used in the US version till 1985/1986.
