For sure not Vauxhall? |

Did they sell those as Vauxhall's or Opel's in HK under British rule? |

I think it changed at some point. We've got Vauxhalls in 1960s films and IIRC there's an Opel Vectra in a 1990s HK film. |

My guess would be that on or before 1983 the Vauxhall brand was replaced by Opel on exported models, at the time of the introduction of the Opel Corsa and Vauxhall Nova? |

In the 60s there were Vauxhalls even in continental Europe, so I guess that HK market was the same as that market? (i.e. only Opel since the 80s) |

we can probably be confident this was a UK build car to avoid import tariffs from non-Commonwealth countries |

Vauxhall sales in Continental Europe ended in 1980. I do remember the article on the news while I was servingi my military duty. -- Last edit: 2015-11-21 22:29:20 |

In West Germany Vauxhall never appeared officially, except the Chevette and the Bedford CF (which was named Opel). But these two models are the only, which are listed under "Vauxhall" in the type-code-list for the German car-insurances. This code is issued for every car, officially distributed in Germany. In old http://www.schwacke.de/index2.php lists (for used car prices) from the and 50ies and 60ies are some Vauxhalls listed, but they were too rare for having an own code-number for the insurance-classification. -- Last edit: 2015-11-21 22:42:52 |
