I notice that the origin of this one has been indicated as being France .In fact it is an English Talbot and there are others on this site .Encyclopedias list English Talbots as Talbot and French Talbots as Talbot Darracqs or Talbot France encompassing all cars built at Suresnes , the Talbot Lagos and the end seventies/early eighties Peugeot derivatives.English Talbots are also sometimes called Clément Talbots or Talbot London. The English Clément Talbot factories were acquired by the Rootes Group ca 1936 and just before world war II the last Talbots as this one which were in fact Hillman-based cars were renamed Sunbeam-Talbots.

We automatically gave "France" as origin for all Talbot, but I forgot that there were English Talbot.

This Talbot had the Hillman Minx chassis and engine (actually 1181cc). George Roesch gave it an alloy cylinder head so it could produce about 40bhp. 0- 50 in about 24 seconds, and 65mph or a little more, which was not at all bad. With this very hansom pillarless coachwork it would cost about £240- as much as as many 14hp cars. The engine was quite 'gutsy', but the chassis flimsey and gearbox fragile. Not the sort of quality engineering expected from Talbot in 'pre- Rootes' days. I've sat in one of these and it seemed about half the size of my 1933 Roesch Talbot 65.
