On la voit bien évidemment tout au long du film.

On voit quelques autres coccinelles (classiques, sans le 53 et dans d'autres couleurs), surtout à la fin où des dizaines d'entre-elles arrivent de toute la ville.

Are you sure this is a 1963? Its slightly different than in the other movies, I remember in this one it had a spot lamp on the fender that isnt present in the other movies.

Herbie the character was based around a 1963. Though Disney did use several different years that were all either updated or backdated to look like 63s. And the two beetles in stronghold's post are themselves actually Herbies that were repainted.

They also updated a few earlier ones (ovals) though this was mostly for the 1st film.

The fender lamp was a prop to hide a camera, hooked up to a monitor inside the car for the stunt driver.

The blue stripe is slightly darker than it was in the previous film.

The light pink one pulling away from the curb was the blind driver Herbie from the first film which has been restored by Darby Milnor, and is now back in it's iconic racing scheme. The only recent pictures of the car were back in 2004 and 2005 as it was being restored. Does anyone know where the car is now or have any pictures of it after its restoration?

Herbie is a good car to save the firehouse from Alonzo Hawk. :)

Info received via e-mail:
Quote I wanted to tell you that car is most likely a 63 model like you listed it.

I actually know the owner of this exact Herbie: his name is Dan Miller he restores classic VW Bugs.

This car was previously used in 1969's The Love Bug and was modified with a Judson Supercharger. It was car #5 and was used for speed scenes, along with Porsche Engined Herbie #2.

For Herbie Rides Again, it was mainly used for scenes around the Firehouse, but it was used in the screenshot you have for Herbie. It also was repainted Pale Pink for the Bug Army scene as a Bug named Jilly Bug (we named the Pink Beetle Jilly Bug after my cousin).

After going undiscovered as a daily driver for 25 years, a man named Darby Milnor bought the car, and only when he looked it over did people finally realize it was the Judson Herbie, as it had a Judson Supercharger and the number 5 was written on it. Darby sold it to Dan when he found there were rust issues that he didn't know how to take care, while Dan does know what to do.

A classic Bug will have the VIN on the spare tire well and on the chassis under the rear seat. The VIN Plate on H5's chassis was hacked up whenn they installed a blind driver capability. The VIN Plate in H5's tire well was so faded it isn't readable. However, other signs prove H5 is a 62 or 63 Ragtop.

you may remember that I sent an email that I knew that the Judson Supercharger Herbie, car #5 in TLB, #1 in HRA, and Jilly Bug was either a 62 or 63 Ragtop but without the VIN it would be impossible to confirm. It is the car you have here: /v002840.html

Turns out I was wrong. A 62 will have a Wolfsburg Crest at the bottom of the hood, a 63 won't under normal circumstances. Even if you remove the Wolfsburg crest from a 62 or earlier, you will have to fill in the hole and someone could tell if you did that by looking in the inside of the hood.

It was known that the Judson Herbie had an accident during TLB, its hood was damaged so they put a new hood on it. Its original hood was mounted on this 1957 Beetle in HRA to help it look like the Junker. The 57 Bug and the hood exist, the owner of the Junker Beetle said the hood never had a Wolfsburg Crest. This is the Junker Car I was mentioning: /vehicle_644296-Volkswagen-Sedan-Typ-1-1957.html

The Junker Beetle, a 57 Hardtop, was also a former Herbie from TLB. It was damaged in the scene where Thorndyke and Havershaw knocked Jim, Carole, and Tennessee into the tree in the second half of the El Dorado (pictured here). It had a fake sunroof on it. They repainted it yellow for the role of the Junk Bug in HRA. It is owned by Clayton Capps in Salado Texas.
