This e24 was being driven (in the plot) by Steve Owen (Martin Kemp), his persuer was Phil Mitchell (Played by Steve McFadden). The chase was part of yet another flimsy East Enders storyline, geared more towards viewer ratings than actual drama. The E24 ended up in flames, it was the dramatic exit of Steve Owen from the series as the car 'exploded'. -- Last edit: 2011-06-18 23:37:43 (G-MANN) |

The car that ends up exploding has 'B505 L--' on the plate. -- Last edit: 2010-11-19 01:21:37 |

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og_AsF4W4RA . The BMW during the chase is an automatic, G99 VBJ [not recognised by DVLA], and it looks like the same car which crashes into the bikes and shop although it's not clear if there is any real damage. The car which explodes is different in at least some of the footage - a 4 door saloon with horizontal tail lights - BMW 7 series? Honda Accord? -- Last edit: 2010-11-19 02:00:37 |

Looked like a 6series all the way through to me. Good chase considering British TV show budgets. How obvious was the MG though? It was clearly just sat there waiting to pull out. The car looks too old to be G Reg so plate for me is an obvious fake. I wonder if Phil was so angry because he'd just heard 'True'? I'd hunt down one of the Kemp brothers after hearing that. -- Last edit: 2010-11-19 23:33:02 |

The car is a 84"-A reg 635csi, i bought this car years ago, probabaly 6 month after filming, the guy i baught it off told me it was the one and all things point to it being the one, metallic marron with beige, it was barely running when i got it, the o/s had very minor damage to the wing front of door and looking at the video of Eastenders, the damage in that would appear to be painted on. As it goes the car wanted a bit of work both the rear tyres were through to the cord and it did end up not running at all, I worked in a bodyshop at the time and it was stolen from outside one night. The car that was blow up was a 635 but with no running gear and B505... i guess. |
