Hi, L:ooks like a 1946-1955 BENTLEY MkVI Regards Vintman |

MkVI but earlier than chassis no B163DZ, late 1948, as there are ten radiator shutters in each half of the grille. Thereafter there were 9. Source - Bentley Drivers Club publication, "Twenty Years of Crewe Bentleys 1946 to 1955". From 16th June 1952 the R-Type was introduced and the MkVI deleted, beginning at chassis no. B10RT. |

Following 11 years of relentless and painstaking work, I have to advise that the information above provided is no more or less than a load of fetid dingo’s kidneys. Either I can’t count, or the car has been fitted with an earlier grille. The subject vehicle is, in fact, an R-type, OXL 700, B252WH, March 1954, new to Sir Geoffrey Duke Burton, of Dennis Bros. Confirmed as used in Miss Marple films by its entry in Bernard King’s book on the R-type and by my having watched it on the haunted fish tank this evening. -- Last edit: 2021-04-18 23:07:15 |

![]() Nine on each side confirmed, although counting the shutters is easier on the passenger side. ![]() 'OXL 700' visible in an earlier scene. |

The longer R-type boot is visible at some point in the film, and Moray Watson appears to have driven one before, although he did switch the headlights on before pressing the starter button, not good for the battery. |

![]() This is the best view I can find for the boot after a quick search. The main picture also replaced with a slightly clearer image. |

Was there a pic with the boot open when he was changing the wheel? It would have been hard work for a bloke of Moray Watson’s years to jack up an R-type, don’t I know it! |

Nothing of the boot being open when changing the wheel initally, unless it was in a later alibi-checking scene; however a better view of the rear is seen slightly afterwards.![]() ![]() |

Thanks, it looks a nice car, at least, it did then. |

The boot is seen open in a flashback towards the end of the movie, when the red S.S. Jaguar is passing, but no acceptable screen capture was possible as it is badly blurred.![]() -- Last edit: 2021-04-19 22:53:06 |
