1997-2003 Ford Econoline E-350. Evidently, this van is no longer at Station #28. Link to "www.hamilton.ca" -- Last edit: 2010-01-22 22:37:40 |

I don't know how many times I've said this before...these grilles were only used on 1997-2002 models. Ambulances also come on an E-450 chassis so it doesn't necessarily have to be an E-350. Since there's no way to tell if it's old enough to be an Econoline or new enough to be an E-Series, I'll just go with the generic E-Series name. -- Last edit: 2010-01-22 22:57:58 |

E-450 Econolines didn't come out until the turn of the Century, and those were shared with the short-lived E-550 Econolines, both of which were strictly cutaway vans with heavier, engines, chassis, and wheels, with the cabs lifted up, kind of like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2005_Ford_E-550_KABC-TV_ENG_van.jpg http://www.bargainbusnews.com/Buses/212-1999Forde450/212-1999Forde450-1.jpg Link to "www.autohopper.com" Plus, I actually knew somebody with an E-550 from the early-2000's. -- Last edit: 2010-01-23 07:11:45 |

Ddey65 I know I have seen ambulances and Uhaul trucks from the 1997-2002 (and even 1992-1996) era that were E450s and they were not the Heavy Duty models like the ones you linked to. Just do a google search for 1997 E450 and you will come up with a slew of them (like this one for instance: Link to "upload.wikimedia.org" ) |

E-450's have been around for a while as tonka said. And even before then, that chassis existed as the "E-Super Duty:" /vehicle_183335-Ford-E-Super-Duty-1992.html Since this ambulance is from the 1997-2002 year range, it is very much plausible for it to be an E-450. I don't know what you mean when you say that the E-450's were shared with the E-550's as this is not true. They were completely different trucks and they even looked differently. In fact, it's hard to distinguish an E-350 from an E-450 as they are just about identical (except if the E-350 has single rear wheels). |

Just to clarify some information here. 1992-1995 Ford did not have E-Super Duty. When you cross reference parts, especially the wheels, the earliest you will find for E-Super Duty is 1996. E-350 did come DRW and SRW, as Ford_Guy mentioned, so they are practically impossible to tell apart from the badge. E-550 was a beast of it's own. It shared components with the E-Series vans and the F-Series Super Duty trucks. Check the forums and you will find a lot of guys with headaches on how to service them or which parts to use. There may be ways to tell the E-350 & E-450 apart like the E-250 & E-350 short wheel base vans but I am not really sure if ride height counts as an ID'ing factor when the majority of images on here are not showing us the wheels/height off the ground. |
