Maybe special for the USA, but in origin there was no combination of the VR6-engine with orange front indicators. Only the smaller engines, up to 90 hp, had orange indicators, the bigger ones -usually combinated with higher trim levels as GL or GT, had white indicator-lenses with orange bulbs. There were only a few exceptions. So once I saw such a 35i-Variant from the German police. Everything inside and outside was basic trim level - but it had the G60-engine. Not available for regular customers. |

1993 only GLX by the wheels and late 1993 MY color 'Dark Teal' (no longer available in 1994) Should have fog lights somewhere in the dark. VR6 was not advertised as a trim in the US, instead it was GLX. -- Last edit: 2023-04-01 09:29:04 |

my city had a similar idea but with a 1991-1992 Camaro : everything screaming RS from the outside but with Z28's engine -- Last edit: 2023-04-01 10:21:34 |

Also here police forces often had top-specs engines combined with basic looks: examples include the Alfa 33 which had 1.7 engine but with 1.3's basic appearance and Fiat Marea with 2.0 5-cylinder motor and black bumpers (not available to the public here) and wheelcovers. Other than that, the Alfa 155 other than the exterior of the basic model had also an "interim" half-facelifted version built only for law enforcement. And IIRC on the site there was a discussion about pre-facelifted Saab 900 that remained available for swedish or finnish police |

As my daily driver-Durango, too. It looks like the basic sixcyl-SXT, has even lower spec interior (no GPS, no entertainment system, no reverse camera, etc), but it has the 5,7 Liter HEMI V8. Originally 30 of them were built in 2013 for Argentina as civil border patrol cars, but the Argentina went bankrupt once more, and the cars stayed for 1 1/2 years in the backyard in Detroit, until a dealer from Hannover/Germany picked them up. |
