Badge on the fender says Central Fuel Injection, introduced in '83. |

... and now someone has annoyingly changed the image to that of a 1982 model... |

Yes, as it stands, year should be changed to '82. About those fender tags. I have long used them too as at least partial year ID's, but as I recall, when the '83's were introduced, the tags read "Automatic Overdrive". Later, they were changed to read "Central Fuel Injection", but I was never sure whether this changed effective with the 1984 model year or whether it was a running change. When the '85's were introduced, there were no tags at all. (I have an '85 Cown Vic myself which is why I became interested in their details.) Can anyone tell me exactly when the tags were changed and whether or not they were dropped altogether prior to the end of the 1984 model year? |

It certainly looks like the same one. Don't they both have the badge on the fender? |

They introduced the automatic overdrive in 1980, so I suppose they could have given them the badges then and simply changed the text to "Central Fuel Injection" in '83 when they introduced that. Just a theory At any rate, the one in the photo is most definitely a 1982 model. |

No, I know the '83's (at least the early ones) had "Automatic Overdrive" tags - I have seen them myself. |
