DKW or IFA? I think the double row of vents in the bonnet makes it rather a 1950+ IFA F8. But I'm not sure about this... I thought the German army didn't use many of these 2-stroke cars. |

The double row of hood louvres was also found on the 1939 to 1942 DKW F8 from which the 1949 IFA F8 was extrapolated. This car has plain wheel disks whereas IFA's most often had artillary type wheels or when equipped with plain wheel disks had an IFA name on the hubcaps. It also seems that the radiator cowl is bright rather than painted so I am more tempted to go for a 1939-42 DKW. |

@DynaMike: no, neither Wehrmacht, SS or other troops have used two-stroke-cars. So this is a historical goof. Two-stroke-cars weren't commandeered from the civil citizens or private companies, all others were "picked up". This is the reason, why the most common and existing civil cars on the German streets of the late 40ies, were the DKW's. |
