Apparently the holy grail of Scalextric models. From http://www.scalextric.com/news/2008/11/26/scalextric-midas-auction/ "The Bugatti was only hand-built at the factory to order in the mid 1960s. An exact record of the number made does not exist but is presumed to be about fifty. Though not sold in the thousands to the average Scalextric fan the Bugatti remains the pinnacle of the collectable Scalextric cars. Because of this, there were three unofficial production runs of the body and chassis in the 1970s and 1980s. Not all of the small parts were produced since the mold tools were not of good enough quality to produce these items succesfully. The 'un-official' Scalextric Bugattis were made up to fully operational cars with some Scalextric parts and some specially made components by the third parties. These Bugatti cars are known as Littleton, Perris and DeHavilland Bugattis after the names of the people who commissioned these to be made. Less than a hundred of these are though to exist. Previously, original Scalextric Bugatti cars have sold between £1000 to £9000 each." |
