That's one unfortunate thing about hidden headlamps - they make the front panel look crude and unfinished when they are opened.

Not sure this is an '80. Didn't the '80's (and '81's to '83's for that matter) have nameplates over the left headlammps? I believe the '80's read "Continental" while the '81-'83 model read "Town Car".
The '84's as I recall had no nameplates at that location.
Could this actually be a 1984?

That is actually a Lincoln Continental Mark VI. 1980-81 was the only time the Mark was offered in a sedan. The Continental Town Car was a separate model even though it shared a body with the Mark VI sedan. The Mark sedan was dropped in '82 after the new smaller Continental sedan( the one that looked like a Seville) was introduced. The Continental Town Car became simply 'Town Car' the Mark VI coupe carried on until the all new Mark VII was introduced for '84.

Ah! Mark VI. Of course!
But a Mark VI sedan was built from '80 to '83.
(The above one is an '80 or '81 due to the slotted front bumper. The '82's and '83's were solid.)
