BeanBandit ◊ 2007-02-02 11:51	It was pair of Lola T70 cars they wrecked, disguised to look like Porsche 917 K and Ferrari 512 S.
James 917 LHs ◊ 2007-02-18 03:21	He is right they did use Lolas. Previously they took #11 out of the race so not to wreck it, then took it and put a Laser 917 kit on and the original hood. Thats why the hood flies off it wasnt really attached. and under the left door you can see the yellow strip with the two ones on it from Lola # 11. -- Last edit: 2007-02-18 03:21:55
dsl ◊ 2012-02-24 14:37	The 917 driven by McQueen is reported as chassis no. 13, which had previously won at Daytona and Sebring. Appeared at 1998 Goodwood festival in Gulf livery but no racing numbers. Info from brief mention in Car magazine (UK) March 2012 issue, referring back to an article in August 98 issue.

alan vixon ◊ 2015-02-01 18:12	Chassis 917-013 was one of the three 917 used for the movie. It took part at Daytona and Sebring in 1970 but didn't win those races. During the making of the movie 013 was crashed by David Piper. Mc Queen's company, Solar Productions had bought a brand new 917 (917-022) from Porsche factory. This car was driven by Steve McQueen during the making of the movie. The cars used for the movie were 917-013, 917-022 and 917-024. -- Last edit: 2015-02-01 18:25:35
