2005-2007 model. The lugs would suggest that this is either an F-450 or an F-550. Either way it comes equipped in XLT trim. It's too bad I can't make out the exact numbering on the name badge. |

looks like the black lettering has "flaked" off of the chrome badge, which was a constant problem with these, even when they were still fairly new. |

I have seen those chrome inscription with black lettering tends to flake out especally if it goes through automatic car wash or repeated washes... |

Assuming the owner can find one that it will fit in. I have drove up to automatic car washes with the Expedition after coming down from the mountains, put my money in, and to my frustration found the Expedition would not fit (!) |

Neptune have you had any issues with the emblems on your Expy? |

No, cosmetically (paint, finish, emblems, etc.) it still looks like the day I acquired it. The right front wheel is dented, the others have minor scratching and the skid plate that protects the transfer case has a dent the size of my hand in it, where I must have hit something while in the mountains. The skid plate covering the fuel tank is untouched. |

I mostly see the damaged emblems on the F and E series'. My neighbor has an F-150 and the black lettering came off of the emblem after about three months. According to him It is one of those things that Ford knows about but will not do anything about it. I guess it is kind of like the rear plastic trim panel under the rear glass on the liftgate on 02-05 Explorers and Mountaineers. 99% of the Explorers and Mountaineers (including my mothers 03 Explorer) have the trim panel under the rear window cracked (where the Ford or Mercury emblem are). I am very fortunate as the one on my 05 Explorer is not cracked, but I am very careful when I open or close the liftgate as I am waiting for it to crack. Up until last week my Explorer was free of any blemishes also, but I was rear ended at a stoplight by a woman in a caprice. The factory trailer hitch saved the truck from to much damage but the rear bumper cover and the rear parking sensors need to be replaced now I just found out that the woman that hit me had no insurance so my insurance is paying for it. I get to pick it up from the body shop on Friday. On a side note Neptune that's a really nice color on your Expedition. EDIT: this is the type of crack i am talking about Link to "www.carcomplaints.com" -- Last edit: 2009-10-28 04:07:27 |

Yes, same color as your Explorer I think, "White Sand" is the name and was only available on Limited editions. I like it, but it adds like almost $400 extra to the price tag. Something to do with the extra pearlescent coat. |
