Fake studio Florida tag (for an Escambia County trailer - "9B"). -Kurt |

The dealer tag on the lower left corner of the trunk lid might indicate that it was merely a one-day loaner or someone’s personal car from the studio. Being a 1970, it was the newest car to ever appear on the show, and the only Cadillac ever featured in the series. None of the Pontiacs were newer than 1969 model year. |

An excellent observation! I was wondering what the dealer tag reads and can only assume it was one of the Cadillac dealers in the Los Angeles area. Of course all the Pontiacs were provided by the manufacturer so they wouldn't have the dealer plate. I remember this episode! Tony's Texas cousin pretends it is his "buggy" and pulls some con....was it on Roger? I don't remember it THAT well. And later in the episode, either Tony or Roger are trying to nab Tony's cousin for his swindle, and as the top goes down, it's General Schaefer's car....HAHA!!! General Schaffer always came across as more stern and short-tempered than General Peterson....it was like he was going to blow a fuse. In fact, he died of a heart attack in 1970 after completing the final episode but before it was broadcast. I guess Tony and Roger wore him out. |
