No, later. Note the heavily skirted and rounded front fenders. Either a '33 or a '34. My vote would be 1933 due to movie year but if made late in '33, could be a '34 model. -- Last edit: 2009-10-19 17:06:41 |

You are right - I hadn't noticed the skirted front fenders. It is a 1933 car - must have been brand new in the movie. |

Agree , 1933 Packard Super Eight Coupe Roadster ( tenth series model 1004 on the 142 " wheelbase ; production span of the tenth series was relatively short running from january to august 1933 ). It has the plain bumper blade of the tenth series whereas the eleventh series of 1934 had bumper blades thar were split in their centre. |

I have my reference sources today and this really looks like a 1934. The 1933 models posted do not have the leading edges of the front fenders coming down so close to the bumpers. My 1934 photos show a bumper identical to the one pictured. Could this movie have been made in late '33 after the '34's were released? |

I had a further check on my documents .You are right .It is an eleventh series 1934 model year .The front fenders are extended front- and downwards much closer to the bumper than in 1933 models. I was mislead by the bumper shape that looks plain as on 1933 cars . 1934 eleventh series super eight pictures indeed show bumpers that are largely split off in their centre with one central and two lateral overriders whereas the twelve pictures show bumper blades with four overriders and a very narrow centre split that may be present here but is hardly visible. According to those documents , it may then be a 1934 Packard twelve coupe roadster ( eleventh series model 1107).The eleventh series Packards were produced from august 21 1933 to august 30 1934 so it is possible that the movie scene here was realised in the fall of 1933. |

Interesting. Then it was TRULY brand new at the time! Glad we got that cleared up. |

For the fun of it, I checked with the IMDB. "Lady Killer" was released Dec 9,1933, plenty late enough for a 1934 Packard to have been used during filming. |
