I do not see any Mercury in this picture. The sedan driving away downwards the street on the right is a 1950 Packard Super Eight (23rd series Golden Anniversary model 2302) |

That Packard model run began as a mid year 1949, so 1949-1950 would be the correct description. |

Background cars include: 1957 Ford (blue and white). There was a blue and white 57 retractable on set. This may be it. 1948 Buick convertible (yellow). 1956 Cadillac (pink-ish). 1964(?) Corvair convertible. This was not a local, but arrived with the production company. ???1957 Chevrolet convertible (turquoise). There were SEVERAL Chevys from 55-57. I can't be sure about this one. 1961 Imperial (black). This scene was filmed in Kennebunk port, Maine. |

I do not feel this is a Super 8. The side spear does not appear to reach and overlap the taillamp housing as was the case with Super 8's. In fact, I also do not see evidence of a chromed drip rail so this is likely a Standard 8. So listing pending any dissent. -- Last edit: 2010-08-30 15:52:25 |

Unfortunately, my notes on the cars used in the mini-series do not include the vehicles provided by the production company. After looking through, I can't find any further clarification on the car in question. |
