Case steam tractors made from 1878 into the 1920's. This one is probably about 1905, see: http://www.eng.auburn.edu/images/image1410.jpg -- Last edit: 2006-03-09 06:00:21 |

Well, according to the IMDB synopsis, the movie takes place in 1889, so is the tractor really older, or is that an anachronism on the part of the filmmakers? |

Difficult to determine. It could be older as Case started making tractors about a decade before the assigned time of the movie. I don't think its newer than about 1905 because the newer ones had CASE written on the front of the boiler. |

This is most likely a Case 40hp Traction Engine. |

This movie was based in the 1800's, it can't be a 1905 |

Ever heard of movie anachronisms? |

This is not a 40 horsepower Case. It's a 60 horsepower engine made in 1912. Yes it's over 30 years in the future, but oh well. Google the keywords Case+Tremors+AGSEM for more information. The museum that owns it, the Antique Gas and Steam engine Museum in Vista, CA has a webpage that has some behind-the-scenes pictures of it. |
