These 'trials specials' as they were called usually had 1172cc Ford engines, but the chassis were often either Austin Sevens or - like the bodywork, such as it is - home-made. Unless they are obviously proprietary, such as early Lotuses or Dellows, I'd be reluctant to put a make to them, unless having a (possibly modified) Ford engine makes them Fords. -- Last edit: 2010-05-24 16:19:00 |

That's not its original reg number, that much I can say, and it lost its original number many years ago. Prior to 1993 (if I remember correctly) when a a non dating reg number (one without the year suffix or prefix) was transferred off a vehicle, it was allocated a new number with an A suffix. ALC is also one of the more common ranges allocated this way. I own two Land Rovers that fall into this category, and by coincidence both are 1960 88" series 2s and were built only months apart. One is registered ALC 90A, the other ALC 153A. |
