Or a 1970-71 Ford Torino |

http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=57524 IMO, it resembles a '70 Montego MX. |

I found a picture with the Torino and Montego side-by-side: http://www.flickr.com/photos/37573576@N06/3770091135/ The badge placement looks more like the Montego, but the shape of the rear wheel opening looks more like the Torino. Is there a view showing any more of the front available? EDIT: I think it's a Torino. -- Last edit: 2009-09-05 19:07:56 |

If we could see the front of this car, we could find out right away. 70/71 Montegos had that pointy kind of grill, and I think I can make out part of where the hood extends outwards. But from the link you've shown me I see Torinos and Montego 4 door sedans look pretty much the same side by side. The emblem on the side of the D pillar is missing from this car. Very attractive looking design, by the way. Gotta love the front of the Montegos and Cyclones from these two years. |

Okay, let's revisit this. Rocker trim could be 1970 Ford Torino Brougham, 1971 Ford Torino 500, 1970 Mercury Montego MX Brougham, or 1971 Mercury Montego MX Brougham. 1970 Torino Brougham had a large crest on the C-pillar and no badge on the rear fender, so we can rule that out. The Montego MX Brougham had a rear fender badge but also a script badge on the C-pillar that is not in evidence here. 1971 Torino 500 had no C-pillar badge and a badge on the rear fender - I think that's our winner. |
