50-52 Buick, maybe?. |

On left = Buick, either 1951 or 1952 (definitely not 1950). On right = 1954 Packard Clipper. |

Buick is 1952. The 51's have 23 grille bars. The bars on the 51 are much narrower so that is difficult to actually count them most times. -- Last edit: 2009-08-27 07:57:24 |

Good job, 58! I had forgotten that about '51 to '52 Buick grille bar count, and you are correct. Also, 1951 bumper guards rest on top of the bumpers, while the 1952's wrap around the front. (This is the only '51 or '52 I have seen with NO bumper guards) |

At least in the spanish version this point of the scene isn't showed (two Buicks and the Packard going to Willie's father home -actor, Frederic Forrest-). I don't know if, in others countries it was, so I leave it as 'francisharley' post it. I assume is the same Buick that appears in the next pictures. It has 3 portholes and divided rear side window so I think could be a Super Riviera Sedan [52] or a Special 4-Door Tourback Sedan [41]. Comments? In the scene on the grass, it's the car just after the smoking man (Sean Penn) -- Last edit: 2009-09-29 11:26:31 |

Super [51]; good extra pictures! The car ahead of it on the grass looks like a 1950 Buick Super or Roadmaster "Riviera" sedan (extra mouldings above and below side windows). Super and Roadmaster bodies (1951-1953) had a pronounced "dip" on the sides. Fender lines on the special bodies did not drop so much to the vertex at the start of the rear fender bulge. -- Last edit: 2009-11-22 10:30:53 |
