In my opinion, this is a Packard of 1933 vintage. Definitely not 1940, and probably not der grosser Mercedes 770 ! |

A Mercedes was listed on this page and also on the sequel of the movie ("Addams family values"), maybe a Mercedes really appears in the second movie, and that it was wrongly listed here. I set this picture as a Mercedes because it was the only one that could be a 1940 Mercedes |

Not a bad a guess, the Grosser Mercedes did look old fashioned by the end of the thirties. But this is a Packard, and the imposant bumper gives it away as V-12. Probably series 1005 with the 142 inch wheelbase. 1933 it is. |

is it packard v-12 or just Twelve? |

A very explendid car. Its body really looks like the 30s Grosser Mercedes. The bigger headlights could indicate a British body maker, i guess. |

I just found an error here. This is not a 1933 1005 Twelve but either a 1932 905 or 906 Twin Six (designation Twelve is correct only for 1933-39; 1915-23 and 1932 V-12 are called Twin Six). Biggest difference between 9th and 10th series are the fender which are open on the 9th series, but became "skirted" on the sides in 1933 (and even more for 11th series in 1934). 9th series Twin Six, too, are distinguished from lesser models by their heavier bumper. Further, they have wide hub caps with Cloisonné application. I am quite sure about that, but I am only guessing about the model: 906 (Individual Custom series). There were several styles like this offered; some by Packard custom, some by Dietrich. |

I must have missed the fender back then, you´re absolutely right. It´s a 1932 Twin Six |

This has to be the most beautiful car ever made. That's what I think. |

I own this car, and I have to pinch myself every time I take it for a drive. It is a 1932 Packard 903 Eight Deluxe Convertible Sedan with body by Dietrich, not an Individual Custom Twin Six. The previous owners told me the production crew broke one of the top bows when they stacked the tree stump on the roof, and the studio paid to repair it. Previous owners also added the fog lights to make the car more drivable at night. -- Last edit: 2020-03-27 22:15:39 |

Sorry to be a stickler, but for correctness 903 Eight Deluxe is the model. Convertible sedan is the body. Thanks! |

@batbuick did you recently purchase the Packard a few years back (around 2015 or so) in Los Gatos, Ca ? -- Last edit: 2022-03-23 05:59:05 |

why do you have to pinch yourself? |

If you don’t understand why, you are either very young, drive some piece of modern junk, or both. |
