Yes, for sure. Sealed beam would be very very strange, because it's strictly forbidden.

@Antoine: try to get the last survivals. Very rare indeed in Europe, but very cheap either. :)

I think the reason why American cars in Europe is so "trashy" is because the parts are hard to get in Europe from America. Same goes with our European "trashy" cars in our market due to difficulty of getting correct parts here...

After 23 years of my family owning 1985 Saab 900S, I could not afford to look for shop to replace cooling system hoses because they are no longer making/selling. I had to force to by a new car to replace with... :(

It's no reason to throw away a car, because you cannot get any parts for them in the shop. Then you buy it somewhere else, at junkyards, enthusiast's club or in other countries. Or just look at eBay.

For me this is the absolute normal way to get spare parts. If you have connections, you never need the official dealer.

Shall I help you with the hoses? Or you perhaps may ask atom, Raul1983 or BeanBandit, because in Sweden and Finland Saab-parts are much cheaper than in other countries. I can check the prices here, too, or ask my Swedish friend.


I've organized car-part-transfers for many car in many countries, so this no problem a all. Once I took a windscreen of a 1953 Ford 15 M with me on our way to Scotland, left it behind a garage in Newcastle, where a colleague of a friend of the Ford-owners lived. Later on it was picked up by annother friend, who brought it to Ireland, where the Ford-owner was located. Complcated, but makeable. Just a question of connections and timing. :)

This does not only depend on the country, it depends more on the brand of the car. Some companies have a good service worldwide (for example Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Rolls Royce), other are worse for all the times and everywhere (Ford, VW is not much better).

It is long gone now. Besides, not only I am working full time plus part time in school. My parent conviced me to get a new car anyway.
