I'm wondering if this was a Barris custom, considering his relationship to the show? In this episode it belongs to Quirt Manly, Granny's favorite western TV star. He's played by future "Laugh-In" regular Henry Gibson. -- Last edit: 2009-05-26 15:35:17 |

This custom Pontiac bears a strong resemblance to the one in the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville, once owned by Webb Pierce. See Link to "steemit.com" This Bonne has the stacked headlights like a '66 a buddy once had, but the one in the CMHFM has the headlights side-by-side and is billed as a 1962. Not sure when the change was made. The placement of the pistols, rifle, and horse statuary on the rear bumper, not to mention the mini saddle on the front console are nearly exactly the same on both cars. I am thinking Mr. Pierce may have had more than one of these custom jobs. and this may be one of them. The above link says it was customized by "Nudie", probably Nuta Cohn, maker of fancy country western stars' suits known in the business as "Nudie Suits". According to this wikipeida article he did design Pierces '62. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudie_Mobiles. Was this one owned by Webb Pierce? Maybe, but it appears Nudie Cohn did build it. and 15 others with Pontiac's and Caddilacs . |
