Driven by Floyd the Barber during what would be his last appearance on the show. |

In the driving scenes in this episode it always seemed to me that they used a double. |

I'm sure they did. Actor Howard McNear could barely walk at this point (the show is shot around that fact) and I doubt he could drive, either, due to a series of strokes. |

I known the car is actually brand new silver 1967 Mercury Comet Caliente Covertible [76D]. I think the car is being driven by a stunt double in disquise as Floyd The Barber with Howard McNear overdubbing him as a voice over. |

I don't think Howard McNear had to do any dubbing. He's not heard when the car is moving. I think he just sits in the driver's seat when he's talking and the stunt double does any driving. |

Actually Maindrian, I seem to recall it being more of a gold color. Gomsel, a whole lot of American car advertising, past and present, centers on a car being "hot" as in very attractive, and evidently that's what Mercury was going for. "Hot" is good as long as it doesn't involve the radiator. :-D -- Last edit: 2011-01-20 14:43:37 |

It's a 1966. The 1967 Comets had more vertical taillights. |

Quite the flashy car for Floyd to be driving. |
