This scene was the reenactment of the murder of Chris Flannery's mate and associate; Michael "Melbourne Mick" Sayers who was shot outside his home in Bronte, NSW on the night of the 16th February 1985. However in the real murder: . He had a maroon Mercedes Benz coupe and he was murdered after he got out of the vehicle after coming home from the dog and horse track. . His murder occurred at night. . His girlfriend was in the car when he was murdered. . The gunman was up close when he shot Sayers. . The gunman had accomplice with him when he shot Sayers. . The gunmen had a Holden HQ Panel van and after shooting Sayers, they used it to flee from the scene. . Mick Sayers was begging the gunman not to shoot him saying that he had the money to pay (as Sayers assumed that he was sent by McCann). As for the matter to those who killed him, according to the "Tough Nuts" story done on Sayers, it was alleged that Barry McCann; a key figure in the drug scene during the Sydney Gangland Wars of 1980s, had two hitmen to murder Sayers. The theory was that a week before his murder, Sayers had met up with McCann for a drug buy and Sayers took a duffel bag containing $400,000 worth of heroin off McCann with the intentions of returning with the money to pay McCann but Sayers return to McCann without the money and the drugs and spun a story that he was robbed, but McCann was convinced that Sayers ripped him off, so to prove that Sayers had ripped him off, McCann gave him a week to get the money or he was dead and when Sayers didn't pay back the money in time, McCann had two hitmen to kill him. McCann himself was later shot dead during the Sydney Gangland Wars by former associate and former councilman; George Savvas at H.J. Mahoney Park in Marrickville, NSW on the night of the 27th December 1987. Another theory was that Sayers failed to pay another gambling debt to another racing identity, so he had Sayers killed. -- Last edit: 2020-07-28 19:03:21 |
