Appears kind of weird to me. I recall seeing these things in every French movie of the seventies, yet not even our French contributors seem to know what they are. |

There are a few more of these in the unknown section..... |

That's what I mean, they must have been standard issue with the French Police. My French is not sufficient to browse French websites. What if smeone in the know would be kind enough to browse French Police historic vehicle sites? |

Those colors look like it is an old Gendarmerie vehicle. |

It has Police plates (Gendarmerie vehicles have military plates). |

...seems that french contributors are quite lazy about it and maybe not very keen on Police or Gendarmerie vehicles? ( I'm not so much personnally... ... and since emergence of this mediatic gnome named Nicolas Sarkozy, this feeling is stronger than ever ...) ... but I know, I'm out of the subject ... cars are ...cars and only that, and history of them are always intersting ! This vehicle was very common and used mainly by CRS (Compagnie Republicaine de Securité) to "prevent" from public desorder during street demonstrations (for instance)... it was made on Renault Galion basis , with a special armoured body and very low centre of gravity so that it was impossible (or very difficult) to lean it back... I'll try to have more info about it but I think it could be a Currus body ... to be continued |

On peut peut-être aller chercher du côté de chez Carrier ( de mémoire lointaine... ) pour ce qui est du carrossier... -- Last edit: 2006-04-30 21:35:16 |

Heuliez fournissait les CRS et la gendarmerie dans les années 70-80. Mais ça ne veut pas dire que c'en est un. |
