Heres a line from the movie, "you just ripped the mirror off of my classic 1965 mustang" ,that makes this car a 1965,not a 1966. |

I do not know if it is a 65 or 66, but there are often errors about that in movies |

The 1965 model had a chrome cross on the grille, fixing the badge to the four sides. The 1966 model didn't. And a 1966 model can be made in 1965, of course |

It was a blooper that drives me nuts every time I watch the movie. In 1965 Mustangs had a honeycomb grille and a horse-in-corral emblem with four chrome spires; 1966 Mustangs had an extruded aluminum grille with horizontal lines and a horse-in-corral without those spires to hold it up. Both 1965 and 1966 Mustang GT grilles came with foglights 1965 Mustangs had vertical chrome trim bolted to the simulated side scoops; 1966s had a vertical chrome strip that incorporated three horizontal bars; Fastbacks and/or GTs of either vintage had no side scoop trim. 1965-model gas cap featured a black center with a galloping horse; 1966 gas cap had a shiny metal center with a raised galloping horse emblem; 1966 GT gas cap was similar to standard cap, but had stacked "GT" letters with no horse emblem |
