This is naturally T-54/55 family tank (I would say T-55, or its Chinese copy), not T-34! |

Gotta love the "naturally," like it's supposed to be really obvious. I think the word you're looking for is "actually." -- Last edit: 2009-03-29 10:32:39 |

Well, for someone interested in tanks it is obvious - that's why I was astonished I forgot, that this is mostly car-devoted site, not a military forum |

How do we know it's ZTS-Martin? |

Indeed, are there any specific differences between Soviet and Czech-built T-55s, or are we just assuming that Czech tanks are more likely to be in private hands? |

USSR manufactured tanks mostly for their own army; Czechoslovakia exported most of its T-55 for East Germany, Egypt, Syria ("commercial" clients), etc. I saw this movie; this tank has oval-shaped gunner sight and coax machine gun I'm sure - only in Polish and Czechoslovakian vehicles - that's the easiest way to distinguish the origin of tank. After unification of Germany (GDR bought T-55 from CSSR [about 1800] and Poland [about 330] many were sold to Western countries; Arab vehicles were captured by Israelis and widely used by IDF (see /movie_94716-The-Beast-of-War.html ), later withdrawn and sold. |

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind, I will probably post it in the "useful info" section of the forums for future reference purposes. |
