...its a japanese Isuzu TW, two and a half ton 6x6 cargo with winch......its not a CCKW because...the winch is mounted too high..the side vents to bonnet are different...the centre of the grille has a large badge...This series of trucks introduced by the japanese self defence Forces in 1953, patterned on the WW2 GMC CCKW...similar vehicles built by Toyota. in 1953 the Isuzu Motor Co. Ltd of Tokyo ananounced japans first post war 6x6 truck, the Tw...exept for the diesel engine it was virtually a copy of the wartime GMC. In 1957 the Isuzu TW passed various tests at Aberdeen Proving Ground in USA and in june 1957 via a contract signed with the US Army Procurement Agency in Japan a supply of 3678 TWs were leased from Isuzu under the Japan-USA Military Assistance Vehicle exchange Program...the toyota version was introduced 1955....also fitted with various "american" style shop bodies. -- Last edit: 2009-03-17 16:54:38 |
