This is no Swift, even if it resembles. It´s a 1988 Opel Ascona Irmscher, not very common. More details here: /vehicle_219392-SAAB-900-1981.html -- Last edit: 2009-03-14 22:26:33 |

I have doubts, that it's a really Irmscher-tuned car. It has still the small original wheels, too small for a powerful engine. Real Irmscher-conversions had more changed parts. I say, it's just a regular Ascona, where the owner has mounted an Irmscher-plastic-bumper (or a lookalike Irmscher-bumper). Very popular in the 80ies, to ruin cars with this plastic-junk all around. |

Well, that´s possible of course. But you couldn´t get them more tuned due to emissions back then, Opel sold about 300 of these Asconas in modelyear 1988 only. They were based on the Ascona GT, and had the 115 hp engine with a different gearbox. The wheels are most likely wintherwheels and therefor smaller and looking at the car it seems to have the whole kit of the Irmscher cars, front and skirts are visible and it seems everything is painted in the bodycolour also. Regular cars usually had more parts in black plastic or rubber. There would be a wing on the trunk also, but it´s not visible on these caps. |
