Yes it is a Monaco. Furys have straight grilles. |

This is correct! Furys had straight grills, while Monacos had the split--and I believe a little tiny "Dodge" emblem on the lower left side of the grill. The 1977 Dodge Monaco was majorly used by law enforcement even through the early 1980's. The '77 Monaco was show-cased the most in the 1984-1991 TV show "Hunter," starring Fred Dryer and Stepfanie Kramer. Hunter drove a dark green 1977 Dodge Monaco (picture in the "Hunter" section) throughout most of the show. |

Never occurred to me until now that MD's old scheme looks just about identical to Sheriff Little's Chickasaw County patrol car on the Dukes of Hazzard. Someone in the MD force tells me that there's a 1990 LTD in the fleet that still wears this scheme to this day. Haven't seen it. -Kurt |

This is the same kind of Dodge Monaco used primarily in "Hunter" (as Hunter's car--except his was not an actual cruiser but just a dark green unmarked car) and "Dukes of Hazzard" (as Rosco's/Enos'/& Cletus' Hazzard County cop cars--as well as Sheriff Little's of Chickasaw County in same show...as cudak888 stated above). Lots of police forces used them in the 70's and early to mid 80's. |
