Liz had 2 personal 3.5 Litre P5B saloons in special dark green. The first was delivered in Jan 71 (chassis 840-07057D), and my book says it was registered JGY 280K, but that does not work as JGY with K was not issued until Aug 71. So it may have inherited her favourite plate of JGY 280, (London issue, June-Dec 1947) and the registration of her first car in 1947 when she was just a princess, possibly a Daimler DB18 as a 21st birthday present from her dad (the king) on her official birthday (usually the second Saturday in June) rather than her actual date (21 April).

But it seems this was later switched to JGY 280K as the suffix-less plate made her feel too conspicuous when wanting to drive un-noticed. The 1971 car was then replaced with another dark green (chassis 841-00723D), delivered in March 1974 and the last P5B made. this inherited the JGY 280K plate, and is now displayed with it at Gaydon. Gaydon also has a second dark green P5B, displayed with JGY 280, so presumably the 1971 car (chassis 840-07057D).

Both cars shown here - /vehicle.php?id=1242394
