Crown Victoria Police Interceptor would be the proper name. It's an actual patrol car from the Highland Park, Michigan Police Department. From what I can see, it's at least a 2003 model, but probably newer. Sharp looking unit. |

These cops weren't too nice, but then again what can you expect in Detroit.... |

Just got a chance to see this movie. These police cars were all 2006+ models. And there was nothing wrong with the actions of the police officers. They did what they had to do. |

I agree Taxiguy. They didn't like their "babysitting" assignment. |

According to their website, the Highland Park Police Department was re-established on July 1, 2007. Now I do not know if by this date they mean that the police department opened for business with all of their staff/equipment ready or if it means that they were simply established officially on paper that day. However, I would imagine that they would have put in an order for 2008 Crown Victorias, which became available that summer. So therefore I'm pretty sure that this is a 2008 model. |

Well what can these police officers do, they know what the areas in their sectors are like and what they have to face everyday when they go out on patrol, they can't be in one spot, they have to continue with their patrol. That and I was a documentary about Highland Park Police Department. It was in a episode of crime documentary called "Murder Book" and it mentioned about the Highland Park Police Department, in the early 1980s, as a result of a mass financial crisis and a mass unemployment rate rising in Detroit and the surrounding areas, the detectives and the officers from the Highland Park PD as well as the fire fighters from the Highland Park Fire Department were under the threat of being laid off. By 1985, the Highland Park PD main police station was closed down as a result, their main headquarters was moved to the main courthouse as well as the case files that the officers and detectives were working on prior to the move. In 1997, a series of tornadoes had hit Detroit and surrounding areas including Highland Park, resulting in several buildings being destroyed including the courthouse, where all the case files were stored in the basement of the courthouse, resulting in a large majority of the evidence stored in the case files being destroyed. Finally in 2001, the Highland Park PD had dissolved, as a result, Highland Park and the surrounding areas was now patrolled by deputies of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department but from 2002 to early 2007, the Sheriff's Department started to feel overworked as the deputies had to patrol the various areas surrounding Highland Park and there were allegations that officers of Sheriff's Department were involved in corruption. This led to emergency financial minster to re-established the Highland Park PD. -- Last edit: 2019-05-07 05:12:12 |
