1938+ 11 BL 'Traction'. There seems to be an interesting aftermarket opening hatch... |

A pre-war Citroen Traction avant 11CV.The 'waving' bumper and Pilot wheels are talking about '38-'40 model year aren't they? |

Or is it a reflection actually? |

I am not certain what 'hatch' you are referring to, but two more views here... |

Especially on the last thumbnail one can see that there are two small hings above the rear window. I guess that the rear window (with a large frame) could be opened when the luggage lid was open. Never seen before... |

Right, I see it now. |

Thanks, Greybear. But the hatchback version shown on the Wiki-site is well known. It's a LWB Commerciale as they were available standard in the years 1954-1957. |

You're right indeed Mike, well done. Interesting adaptation , but I don't know which accessories company (AEAT? EDM? BRISSONNET?...), and when (pre-war? post-war?) had done it. |

"In 1939, the Avant also debuted as a hatchback-type Commerciale variant, in which the tailgate was in two halves, the lower of which held the spare wheel with the upper opening up to roof level." source: http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z11287/Citroen-Traction-Avant.aspx also... /vehicle_82255-Citroen-11-Normale-1940.html Is it an actual 1940 Citroën model? -- Last edit: 2009-01-14 20:03:44 |

The Commerciale was always a LWB version (three windows on each side), also those earlier models with two-piece hatch, and these had the upper hings higher on top. But the transformation on the Traction in La traversée de Paris looks very similar indeed, though no hings are visible there. |

Thanks DynaMike So the exposed hinges almost certainly confirm it as a modification or conversion. |
